Hey Seller Friends,

You know how I love making and sharing tools, especially if they are spreadsheets! Here is one I use every single week to track our metrics.

Do you find that some items in your inventory don’t have a cost assigned to them in InventoryLab? That happens to us because we use Scanpower for our buylisting, listing and shipping, but we keep IL for reporting. We have to update our cost of goods in IL regularly, but there are always some items that haven’t been updated yet.

If you have similar issues for any reason, I have a treat for you!

This cool little Excel sheet takes the FBA Inventory Valuation report from InventoryLab and extrapolates your average cost of goods, then applies it to the items that have a zero cost.

That was clear as mud, right?

OK, if you paste your Inventory Valuation report into this tool, then click a couple of buttons, it will make an educated guess at the buycost of your full inventory, including the items that don’t have buycost assigned yet. Cool, right? And it’s easy to use. The hardest part is waiting for IL to spit out your report.

Wait, I can make it even easier. Here are video instructions for using it!

Note: This tool works best when your inventory is mostly similar in buycost and number of units. For example, if you have a bunch of really expensive items with missing buycost, but most of your other inventory is low-priced items, the estimate won’t be accurate. Or if most of your skus have just a couple of units, but the one missing its buycost has 700 units, the estimate might not be accurate.

To get this free tool, just drop your email address and first name below. Yes, it’s a trade. My tool for your email address. I promise I won’t use it for evil purposes. You’ll get a few introductory emails, then maybe an article like this once in a while. Surely my Inventory Valuation tool is worth that, right?
